The Eastern Cyber Resilience Centre (ECRC) is excited to introduce our newest Friends of the Centre – The Institute for Analytics and Data Science (IADS) at the University of Essex!

Our Friends of the Centre are organisations who feel passionate about promoting cyber resilience amongst their community. These organisations recognise that cyber resilience is an essential consideration in today’s digital world and promote the ECRC as a free support tool for their community to utilise. Friends support our work through raising awareness of our aims and objectives and direct their members to take advantage of the ECRC’s free membership and affordable services.
A Message from IADS
“For over 50 years, the University of Essex has been the intellectual home of the world’s leading experts in data science. Our work spans the full spectrum of trustworthy data science and analytics, drawing on expertise from across the University, including data science, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. At the core of this expertise is our Institute for Analytics and Data Science (IADS), a centre of excellence connecting academics with businesses, health trusts, local authorities, and government to make the world a better place.
We are delighted to join Friends of the ECRC, reflecting our shared commitment to enhancing cybercrime resilience within businesses. At the University of Essex and IADS, we are proud to apply our expertise in data science and analytics to address critical societal issues. By adopting a socio-technical approach that places trustworthiness at the heart of our work, we aim to provide impactful, reliable solutions to help businesses strengthen their cybersecurity and navigate the risks of an increasingly digital world.”
A warm welcome from the ECRC
Paul Lopez, Director of the ECRC said
“IADS at The University of Essex have proven themselves to be fantastic partners to the CRC network, both in the Eastern region and further afield, and I am proud to announce that they are joining us as a Friend of the Centre.
They have supported the national Cyber PATH program by allowing the network to recruit undergraduate students who go on to be trained to deliver commercial cyber services to public and private sector bodies all over the region. And they have provided opportunities for us to engage with microbusinesses as part of Essex Startups. As a truly outstanding collaborative educational establishment, we look forward to working with each other on a series of exciting innovative projects in the months and years to come, in order to build upon the cyber resilience of the region's business community.”
